The beginning of something new…

Ooh, this feels weird. Weird but good.

You know the feeling when you buy a new book and you open it up for the first time?

The smell?

That is how it feels.

But it’s also kind of making me nervous. Stomach flipping up and down. Exciting.

Anyways…

Why am I here and what the f**k am I reading? - you might ask yourself.

You are reading the 1st edition of my very own newsletter. Congratulations!

But wait, I just realized. I haven’t even told you who I am. Sorry for that.

Before we continue, let me introduce myself. By going to the past.

Greetings everyone.

My name is Luka. Currently working as the Head of Marketing in one startup.

For the past 5 years, I have dabbled in all areas marketing has to offer. Organic, paid, B2C, B2B, you name it. I like to call myself a jack of all trades when it comes to marketing.

Although out of all those neat stuff and skills, I find writing to be the most fun for me.

But how did I end up in marketing?

Well, it’s a short story.

I wanted to start an e-commerce company when I was 18. It failed because of a lack of knowledge in marketing. Being a stubborn bastard, I decided to never fail at a business due to marketing. So, I began to devour everything about it.

It turns out I really like it, and I’m good at it. At least that’s what people tell me.

That led to me progressing from being an intern to reaching a Head of Marketing position in 5-ish years. Pretty cool journey so far, not gonna lie.

But, as I said, one skill has particularly stood out during those 5 years. Writing.

Everything I did, I ended up doing some form of writing. I realized I really enjoyed it and wanted to pursue that as my career.

So yeah, that’s the story so far. Now back to the present.

Alright, where were we?

Yeah, right.

The 1st edition of my newsletter. Awesome.

So basically, why did I decide to start this newsletter?

During these 5 years, I noticed some patterns (my personal views) about the state of marketing, writing, advertising, and other stuff in general.

Also, during my career, I was fortunate enough to talk to and listen to a huge number of people and their opinions on these topics.

And for some time now, I have realized that I just don’t “agree” with most of the stuff that I hear and see in the world of marketing right now.

At first, I thought that there was something wrong with that and tried to force myself to like some of the principles, strategies, and things being done…

But for the love of everything, I just couldn’t.

And then I realized, well, that’s okay. Everyone is supposed to have their own perspectives and views.

I, as a Gen Z marketer, grew up consuming different content, doing things differently, and just experimenting and finding out by fucking around.

Those things led me to have some personal opinions about the state of marketing, advertising, and writing, such as:

I believe that marketing today is as boring as ever. I believe that everyone is using the same old, repetitive things, literally, everywhere. I also tend to think that people in marketing have forgotten how to have fun and laugh. + many more things, which I will cover in later issues.

So I thought to myself:

Are these things happening because people have become allergic to creativity and fun?

Orrrr

People who work in these industries simply did not manage to grasp new ways of thinking, doing, and all the new generations, such as Z, Alpha, Beta, and Skibidi Toilets.

If you ask me, I’ll bet on the latter.

That being said, someone’s gotta bridge this gap that is getting bigger by the day.

Looks like that someone is me. Fantastic.

And I intend to do that with this newsletter.

Now onto the explanation of how things are going to work, the name, the frequency, and all the burning questions you have.

First of all, the name? Why The Unfiltrd Writer?

Well, it’s simple. I am a guy who has a strong language, usually without filters, and I love dark humor. Hence, the name perfectly reflects my writing style. Makes sense? Cool. Next!

Who is this newsletter for?

This newsletter IS FOR people:

  • Who are tired of being forced to be professional all the time.
  • Who want to stop writing “I hope this email finds you well” in their emails. Yikes.
  • Who want to challenge the norms of many industries.
  • Who like being creative and thinking outside the box.
  • Who are not afraid of trying different marketing tactics that are sometimes labeled by people as “dumb shit” on the Internet.
  • Who understand that new times are upon us, and that they either go with the times or get lost.

But what about the frequency? Will you spam me too much, Luka?

This will be a daily newsletter. I will try my wholehearted best to not send more than 1 email per day. But who knows, maybe sometimes I get really excited and just wanna talk to you folks. Can’t blame the guy, am I right?

And finally, the concept? What is it about?

As I said, a daily newsletter. The whole point is for me to share my different views about marketing, advertising, and writing through my eyes as a Gen Z marketer with a strong language, no filter, and a love for dark humor.

All with the goal of bridging the gap between newer generations of customers and marketers with the older gens of marketers.

At some point, I might introduce some special email editions, but we will talk about those at some later date.

That’s it. No more questions? Good.

PHEW!

This was a long one. But yeah, we reached the end. Thanks for reading all this. I had a blast writing it. This will be a lot of fun.

But yeah, before you go, I have a promise and a favor to ask.

First, the promise:

These newsletter issues WILL NOT be this long. Maybe once in a while. But do not worry. You will be able to read it on the bus, in the break between meetings, or if you are wild enough, on the toilet.

And the favor is this:

Please move this email to your primary folder. This will help me get to your inbox every time and stay there. Also, feel free to always reply to each email and roast or compliment the fuck out of it. This will help me improve it exponentially and make it more valuable and better for you.

That would be it.

Once again, thanks for reading and strap yourselves in, it’s going to be a bumpy but fun ride ahead.

Peace out.

P.S. I misspelled "Unfiltrd" on purpose. It looked cool to me.
